a bookworm's dream

Waaah! The Kindle now has an international version. I likey!!! I'm seriously thinking of getting this instead of the HP mini (my VAIO still works perfectly fine anyway). Imagine, books are just a minute away and the options are endless! Early christmas gift for myself? Why not?! :)

i want a mini!

I was initially thinking of replacing my laptop with the new VAIO CS series (of course, in pink) but it was quite pricey at 60k so I kinda held off for now. But then, I just saw the new HP mini 110 and I so like!!! I admit, the fact that it's pink has everything to do with me wanting it...hahaha. But really, it's way cheaper than the VAIO laptop and I've been thinking of getting a netbook anyway for traveling and going around. Hmmm, seems I'll be making a trip to Town tomorrow!

hello!

I chanced upon Lec online on YM so I sent him a message and the next thing I knew, I heard a phone ringing which was weird coz it wasn't coming from my celfone nor the landline. It took several seconds before I realized that it was coming from my laptop (sorry, I just came home from work and my brain cells are pretty drained - too slow to think...hahaha). Lec was calling thru YM!

It has been ages since I last used YM voice and back then, I needed a mic and earphones. I didn't have any now so I just clicked the 'answer' button, expecting that it won't work. But surprisingly, I heard Lec's 'hello' loud and clear! I tentatively answered back and it worked! We were actually talking! Hahaha. I never knew that my laptop had a built in mic thingy. Coolness! For some reason, we didn't think that we can talk this way - we usually call each other thru our celfones (which can be very expensive!). So now, I have something to look forward to when I come home. We get to talk (as long as we want...for free!) as I end my day and just as he's about to start his. At least now I won't have to worry about my phone bill.

Goodnight, dear. Talk to you tomorrow! :)

Julia Child

"You are the butter to my bread, the breath to my life..."
I ended up spending the afternoon with my brother and his girlfriend at Town. With really nothing else planned for the rest of the day, we decided to watch Julie and Julia. It was a pretty good film but it made us hungry for French cuisine after so we headed to Bizu for dinner. It kinda sucks being the third wheel but it's way better than being stuck at home. I must admit, it was nice to bond with my brother...something that we don't get to do that often. In fairness, my Saturday ain't that bad after all!

wings, drinks and things

It's my first Friday without him. I still need to get used to not having our Friday date nights. Good thing Mike wanted to go out so together with Ochie, Ros, Vane, AK and Roland (o diba, napasama namin si Roland!), we headed to the Home Depot area in Ortigas to just chill out and relax after a very long and busy week.

We had our 'appetizers' at Buffalo Wings and Things. Their New York's Finest wings (the best seller) is a sure winner (very close to Hooters') and couple it with some cheesy fries and a cold bottle of beer - just perfect! Afterwards, we headed to Jalapeno, the next door Mexican resto, for more drinks and food. Hahaha. Vane read a review of it and it got high praises so why not try it out. And true enough, it was not to disappoint. We ordered their fiesta platter thing which was piled high with nachos, cheese dip, salsa and all other fixings you could think of, plus some pepper steak fajitas and sausages. It was good for for all of us and it came at a very reasonable price. And most importantly, the food tasted real good.

Over margaritas and iced tea, we pretty much just chatted through the night while Mike feasted his eyes on the promo girls walking all over the place. Hahaha. Unfortunately, there wasn't any eye candy (not a single one!) for us girls :( And that's when we got talking that we (in the project) never get any cute guys...ever! Unfair. We were telling Vane that one of the criteria that she should look for when getting resources (read: guys) from the bench is if they're good looking. Ok lang kahit hindi bibo, basta cute! Hahaha.

It was past midnight already when we called it a night. Hoping to end it with at least one cute guy sighting, we had our hopes up that Papa Bogs was on shift at Starbucks. But sadly, he wasn't :( Oh well. But it was a fun night. I needed that. I was pretty out of it the entire week with him leaving, and having my friends around sure made things better.

I got home at around 1:30 am already and since I drank, I was still up and about. I went online to download this week's episodes of Glee and Grey's Anatomy and yey, he was online too! We chatted for a couple of hours, catching up on how the week went and pretty much missed each other even more. It was almost 4am already when I headed to bed (he had to go to the DMV as well to take their license exam).

This was definitely the perfect ending to my week - going out with friends and still ending the day with him even if we were miles (and timezones!) apart... :)

Leaving On a Jet Plane

They were hoping to make Lec 'cry' as Ronnie dedicated the song to him but they got me instead. I was really close to tears as Lec got the mic from Ronnie and sang to me. The song just really hit me right on...

no goodbyes

The past 3 days have been an emotional rollercoaster. I was really happy to have him back from Davao but at the same time, I was dreading the day when he would hop on that plane and start a whole new adventure. We crammed to catch up not just with each other, but with his other friends as well and if there was one thing I so wanted, it was to slow down, stop time and have just a few more days together. But of course, that was just wishful thinking.

Wednesday night, we found ourselves at Metrowalk with his former team and their expats, Marcel and Dia. We were set to sing the night away at Elbowroom but unfortunately, the power went out and they couldn't tell us when it will be back. So we had to head back to Makati and Absynth it is. After a couple of drinks and since it was almost close to midnight, I had to call it a night - I still had work the next day. So much for spending some time alone. But it was a fun night and it was just good to be with him again.

Thursday was pretty busy for both of us. We were only able to meet up for lunch at Circles. He still had to take care of a lot of things before he leaves, and work for me was, well, still toxic as expected. No time to meet up after work, and we only had one day left.

Finally Friday, was OUR day (for the most part of it, anyway). I took a leave from work and was set to just spend the day with him. It was a very busy day - we had lunch with his start group at Italianni's, bought a gift for his godchild, went back to Renaissance to pack his luggages (it was so hard to fit everything in just 2 50-pound luggages! unfortunately, upgrading to Business class wasn't an option since he got this promo fare thing that can't be upgraded so he had to end up paying for excess baggage), tried to go to the spa to relax but was unsuccessful (Suriya was already closed and The Spa had at least an hour waiting time), so we went back to the hotel to just rest, had cocktails, met up with another group of friends for dinner and finally had one last karaoke session with his Best Buy team. Whew! What a day indeed.

It was already past midnight when he dropped me off at the condo. But before he left, we had THE talk and it was good. I got the answer I was hoping and praying for. Nothing's definite yet but we are on the same page and we both agreed that it is the right thing to do. I got my assurance and it somehow helped in making my decision a bit easier. Definitely something to look forward to :)

And this morning, as I woke up to my celfone ringing and with him saying that he's about to board, I felt really sad. But as what he said last night, time will just fly by quickly. Think of it as just another onshore assignment. We're used to this, right? But this time I had to say, I don't want to be used to it anymore. Admittedly, a lot can and will happen in the next few months but if there's one thing we are sure of - this is it. Me and him. And we'll make this work, no matter what.

I'm missing you already.

No goodbyes, dear...just see you soon...

calm

I'm surprisingly calm about all this. I'm just hoping I'm wrong. Keeping my fingers (and toes!) crossed.

my ORMAP family

7 years after, and I'm still in the same project I started with...
