Nicholas Sparks' one of my favorite authors especially if I want to have a dose of a good romantic, feel good, kilig novel. The Notebook, The Wedding and A Walk to Remember tops my list. The movie version of The Notebook and A Walk to Remember was pretty good, but as always, the books are really better. Movie versions of his other novels came out as well (Message in a Bottle and Nights in Rodanthe) but I haven't seen them yet.
And just in time for Valentine's, Dear John came out in the big screen so with my movie buddies (my bro and his gf), we headed to ATC, got our fix of Taters' sour cream popcorn with butter (yummy!) and braced ourselves for a mushy chick flick. I personally didn't like the book that much so I wasn't really expecting much out of this movie. The verdict? I liked the book better (given that it's not one of my faves to start with) coz they changed the ending (again!) to make it a happy one instead.
But in fairness, there were some kilig moments and they stuck to the book for majority of the movie. Oh, and John was such a cutie! Reason enough to watch it. Hahaha. Though I had to admit that I felt quite sentimental the whole time as it made me miss him even more especially with the storyline of John leaving Savannah for a long time for work. Sigh. Oh well. That's what you get for watching a romantic movie without your boyfriend. Hahaha.
I better brace myself then coz I plan to watch Valentine's Day next week (with an all-star cast including McDreamy and McSteamy --- must see!). On a side note, The Lightning Thief will also be coming out next week! Seems that's how I'll be spending vday then - movie marathon it is!
