The first time I saw Rent (the movie version that is) was back in 2007 and I instantly fell in love with it. I vowed that I must watch the musical! Since then I've watched the movie over and over again (I can't even count how many times already) and I just can't get tired of it. I almost had the chance of watching the musical version last year in Minneapolis but when we were about to get the tickets, turned out it was already over :(So when I heard that there's gonna be another round of the Manila production, I just really had to watch it. So along with some officemates, we headed to RCBC to catch the post-Valentine's showing. The musical was very close to the movie version and I loved it just the same. The actors were really good especially the ones who played Angel and Maureen. I wasn't a big fan though of Roger and Mimi. Individually, they sang well but they just had no chemistry together. It was as if they were just going through the motions. Unlike in the movie where you could really feel the love between them. But overall, the production was good!
My favorite act was of course when they sang Seasons of Love :) I'm still hoping to watch the broadway version. I'll be going to New York next month and if it's still on, I'll definitely watch it! :)
