Back in Minneapolis, one of my favorite drinks place is Newsroom, specifically for their Black and White martini - chilled espresso, stoli vanil, white chocolate godiva, chocolate godiva and Bailey's...the perfect ending to cap the night off. Worth dressing up in all the winter gear, braving the -40 temperature and walking 2 blocks! Haven't found anything close to it here in Manila. Definitely craving one now!
Another craving I'm trying to satisfy is Coral Tree's Red Velvet cake. Cristy introduced me to this when I was in California and she was right - once you try it, you'd wish you had the entire cake and not just a slice! It's 3 layers of moist red velvet goodness with generous helpings of cream cheese frosting in between...yummy! The next best thing is Cheesecake Factory's Red Velvet cheesecake. I'm still in a hunt for Manila's version of this but to no avail, everything I've tried (from Sonja's Red Velvet cupcakes to numerous home-baked versions in various food fairs) doesn't even come close. Hmm, Cristy's coming home early next year...I wonder if she could bring home a slice for me...hihihi :)
