Hongkong Vacay Recap: Day 3

Our original itinerary for our 3rd day in Hongkong as to go to Macau. But after 2 whole days of walking like there's no tomorrow and sleeping way past midnight, Ochie, Roland and I opted to just stay in the city and have a relaxed, no-specific-plans day. Joel and Sharon were all set though to go, so we had the lovebirds have their day in Macau.

Like clockwork, Roland was already knocking at our door at around 9ish (who needs an alarm clock when you ahve Roland?! Hahaha). We took our time getting ready and headed out close to noon already. Since we haven't had breakfast yet, we headed across the street to the new iSquare mall to have our fix of Starbucks. We just love the big window overlooking the busy Nathan road, and the super comfy seats. Ochie and I were already imagining ourselves settling in the comfy chairs with a good book. We could spend the entire afternoon there! On a side note, their food selection looks promising. We were only able to try the chicken mushroom pot pie thingy and the mushroom turnover, and both were really good! Wish they had the same selection in Manila.

After about an hour (again, the theme of the day is just to relax!), we took the train to Times Square.

There was this Crazyx'Mas thing going on which we really didn't get but it was quite interesting nonetheless.

We basically just went around the mall and it's just fitting that at the very top, there was a Ben and Jerry's stand. Dessert time! Hahaha. Ochie got her fix of Caramel ice cream while I got the Macadamia Chocolate Chip. Yummy! Too bad Roland was nursing a cold so he laid off the ice cream for now.

After going around some more, we realized that it was already past noon and we were hungry! We wanted to try some local cuisine this time so we just walked...and walked...and walked some more. We finally found this hole-in-a-wall noodle place which seemed authentic enough, and there were a lot of people so it must be good, right? And good decision! I had the prawn dumpling noodle soup, Ochie had congee and Roland had this bbq-egg-rice thingy which were all good. And each dish was just under HKD30. Pasok sa budget!

At around 3pm, we took a short ferry ride to take us back to the Kowloon side.

The weather was pefect. After checking out the clock tower, we just hang out by the harbour, sat by the bay and enjoyed the cool breeze. It was the perfect setting for a very relaxing afternoon.

We then headed out to do some shopping at Canton Road. On the way, we passed by the Heritage Hotel and we can't help but check out their carousel-themed Christmas display.

Ooooh, and I just love Tiffany's giant Christmas tree and signature blue box...

We then finally found ourselves along Canton road...

...where I made my major major purchase at this store:

It was indeed a happiness is moment! Ochie needed her fix of retail therapy as well so we headed to the Harbour City mall where she got her purple Longchamp bag.

It was already dinner time when we finally got back to the hotel. After resting for a bit, we decided to have dinner again at Pizza Hut Bistro. We tried it out the night before and we were surprised that it was really good! They had a huge variety of pizzas and other dishes which were all good. This time around, we had the Italian Forest pizza with Porcini Sauce, Meaty Mashed Potato, Baked Pepperoni and Potato Slices with Cheese, and Wild Mushroom Risotto. Then for dessert, it was the European Dessert Platter with cheesecake, fruit sticks, creme brulee and creme puffs - perfect way to end our meal.

It was another enjoyable and relaxing day. Just one day left and our Hongkong escapade is about to end...
