It's a sad day for us today. Our cute little Daisy dog died yesterday. We had the whole family over for dinner last night, all the kids were here and Daisy just laid down and died. I am glad that she didn't suffer, but we are all so sad. Roxy was just going crazy at the door and as soon as Jake went outside, she ran right over to Daisy. It was too late, there was nothing we could do. So, we buried her in the backyard. She loved being outside and loved her yard. Daisy was 15 years old and I knew that she was probably not gonna live much longer, but I was shocked. Roxy and I are really sad today!
I'll be back tomorrow with a more upbeat post and a product review!

Guilt Free Fries from The Skinnygirl Dish by Bethenny Frankel Potatoes are a starchy vegetable, but they are still a nutrient-dense vegetable, so I'm including this semmingly decadent but actually good-investment recipe for fries. Skip the fast food and make these at home. You'll be glad you did.
Serves 4 4 baking potatoes 1 tbsp olive oil 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp black pepper 1/2 tsp paprika
1. Preheat theoven to 425* F. Cut the potatoes into wedges or strips, leaving the skins on. Toss them with the olive oil, salt and pepper. Arrange them in a single layer on a foil-lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with the paprika.
2. Bake for 25-45 mins or until the potatoes are crisp. Serve hot.
Use-what you have variations:
Variation 1 - instead of baking potatoes try: Yukon Gold, Sweet potatoes or yams or fingerling potatoes cut in half
Variation 2 - instead of olive oil, try any other cooking oil
Variation 3 - instead of salt, try any seasoning salt

It's Finally Friday! YEAH!! I'm not sure why I'm so excited about Friday this week, I have such a busy weekend coming up. We are getting one of our rental properties ready to put on the market and we'll be painting all weekend. But, it is the weekend. So, YAY!!!
Do you change up your routine just because it is the weekend? I try to stick with my normal routine of workout, eating and water, but I just seem to have more fun on the weekend. Since I work from home, it doesn't make much of a difference for me. I do know that when I had an office job, it was completely different!
I think it is so important to get our sleep into a good routine. Even on the weekends, you should go to sleep at the same time and wake at the same times. You can vary a little, but getting out of my routine can affect me for days. Last weekend, my father-in-law, Bill, was in the hospital. I stayed overnight with the in-laws on Friday night and didn't get much sleep at all (about 2 hours), boy talk about a crabby patty!!!! I am still trying to get caught up on my sleep from that night.
So, even though it is the weekend, be sure to stick as close as possible to your sleep routine. A good night's rest is important :
The Harvard Women’s Health Watch suggests six reasons to get enough sleep:
1) Learning and memory: Sleep helps the brain commit new information to memory through a process called memory consolidation. In studies, people who’d slept after learning a task did better on tests later.
2) Metabolism and weight: Chronic sleep deprivation may cause weight gain by affecting the way our bodies process and store carbohydrates, and by altering levels of hormones that affect our appetite.
3) Safety: Sleep debt contributes to a greater tendency to fall asleep during the daytime. These lapses may cause falls and mistakes such as medical errors, air traffic mishaps, and road accidents.
4) Mood: Sleep loss may result in irritability, impatience, inability to concentrate, and moodiness. Too little sleep can also leave you too tired to do the things you like to do. 5) Cardiovascular health: Serious sleep disorders have been linked to hypertension, increased stress hormone levels, and irregular heartbeat.
6) Disease: Sleep deprivation alters immune function, including the activity of the body’s killer cells. Keeping up with sleep may also help fight cancer.
I do know that when I do get enough sleep, I feel better, I look better and Brian will certainly tell you that I am easier to get along with :)
It's Friday Follow!!!!

I am so blessed in that I get to watch my sweet baby Madelyn on Wednesdays. I look forward to this day all week. Brian and I just can't get enough of her! For those of you that are new around here, Madelyn is our grand daughter. She is 6 months old. Talk about a joy. She is just so happy and really beginning to show her personality. However, on Wednesday, I don't get much done. I barely have time for lunch. I don't know how I ever did it with 3 boys. Honestly. I forgot just how much work babies are. We have a great time playing, reading and resting. I don't get to move as much on Wednesdays, but I am okay with it. It's worth it!
On these types of days, I am thankful for some healthy, prepared food. I try to always have something good and healthy in the fridge to eat on the run. Last week, Cedar's Mediterranean Foods sent me the most wonderful package in the mail. I got to try all kinds of goodies. My favorite was the hommus. Oh, this was good. Spinach and artichoke hommus with baked pita chips. The pita chips were so good and I love that they are baked.
Last week after workout, everyone was starving, well, I pulled out my goodies and we got to taste testing. Everyone agreed that all the products were good, but the favorite among the group was the garlic chive feta spread. I don't eat dairy products, so I was glad they were here to help me try ths stuff out. Kristi, Jason, Brian, Hermina, Morgan and Cassie were all willing participants and loved them all. The Spinach Dip went over well too! We also loved the salsa and the tzatziki (cucumber yogurt dip) and the Edamame salad was divine!
I also thought it was funny that I came home yesterday and Jake was plopped in front of the TV with the hommus and chips. I love it when the kids eat the healthy snacks in the house!
So on the days when I don't have time, I'm glad for items like these in the fridge. I will pull out a wrap today smother it with hommus and throw in the edamame salad, wrap it up and enjoy! So quick and easy.
Head over to Cedar's and check out these great tasting products. They will ship them directly to your front door. You can be munching healthy and quick tomorrow! Eat it! Share it! Live it! Love it!
I recently had the wonderful opportunity to try HerbaSway products. These are GREAT!!!! HerbaSway is a high quality, natural liquid concentrate that ensures you are getting the optimum levels of anti-oxidants, vitamins and herbs. The products are sugar free, caffeine free, calorie free, alcohol free and they don't have any artifical sweeteners or preservatives.
Anti-Oxidant Bone/Joint Health Cardiovascular Health Daily Health Digestive Health
HerbaSway comes in bottles with a dropper, you just add it to your water and you are ready to go! This is so handy. I've been keeping mine in my purse, I can use it wherever I am.
HerbaGreen Tea, Seven and Thre (pronounced three) are the ones I have tried. I've been very impressed with them all.
The HerbaGreen Tea is good. It tastes like green tea with a little sweetness to it. I can't have any caffeine and I love that I can enjoy all the benefits of green tea without any caffeine. Each serving provides up to 15x more anti-oxidant power than brewed green tea. This will help to provide free radical fighint components that support a strong immune system. I've been enjoying it iced, but am going to try it in hot water today.
Seven is really tasty. Seven is also in the Anti-oxidant line and is a combination of the 7 hottest super fruits. Acai, goji Berry, Black Cherry, Pomegranate, Mangosteen, Indian Gooseberry and Grape that provides the "super support" your body needs to maintain good health.
Thre Energy is all natural energy without the calories, caffeine and crashes. Great alternative to the high sugar and high caffeine energy drinks on the market. I did notice a little more perk to my body when I used it. It tasted pretty good too.
I shared with the workout group - see they get all the benefits, working out with ME :) and trying out the great products. Kristi tried the thre and really liked it and Brian tried the Seven and loved it! Jason wasn't brave enough, but I'll work on him!!
Check out HerbaSway on facebook and twitter and be sure to stop by their website and sign up for the email list to get weekly specials delivered to your inbox!
