Hello 2010!

For the past the past 27 years, it has been tradition to spend New Year's at home. We slave over the kitchen cooking for Media Noche as my dad prepares the firecrackers that will soon light up the streets. By midnight, we all gather outside, sparklers and roman candles in hand, fountains ablaze, as we literally greet the new year with a bang.
After all the fireworks have been lit up, we head back inside for our new year's feast and end the night with a thank you prayer for all the blessings we've had for the past year. It was really a time with the whole family.
But this year, we broke tradition by spending New Year's eve at the condo instead. Without my dad, it's just quite sad to be at home this time of the year. He's the one who gets all excited with all the paputok and without him, we just don't feel like lighting up any firecrackers anymore.
There was a New Year's countdown at Eastwood so we headed out to the mall by midnight and joined the hundreds of people to greet 2010. Even if we weren't home, we were all together as we welcomed the new year - knowing my dad was with us as well in spirit.
And of course, my New Year's wouldn't be complete without greeting him so at exactly my midnight we were exchanging 'happy new year' greetings over the phone. Miss you so much, dear!
Here's to another exciting year ahead...live, laugh and love! :)
