the guardian and the gate

After my recent failed reading attempts trying out new authors, I was hoping that my next read would be a good one. I took the chance and picked Michelle Zink's Prophecy of the Sisters. I have the ebook version for a couple of months now so it's about time that I read it already (and cross if off my list!). And all I can say is, good decision indeed! The story is about twin sisters Alice and Lia and how they end up playing the major roles in the prophecy that can bring about the apocalypse. The premise in itself got me intrigued and true enough, once I started reading the first book, I was hooked! We were out the whole weekend running errands and what not, and I had my Kindle with me the whole time. I was sneaking in chapters while traveling in the car, while waiting for our food to arrive in restaurants, while waiting on sales people to attend to us...I literally can't put it down!

The book was beautifully written in a such a way that each chapter will leave you wanting for more. The build up and the suspense was just right and I liked how each character slowly revealed how they play an important role in the prophecy. The end of the first book was so bitin that I immediately started off with the second one. And just the same, it didn't disappoint. New characters were introduced and more was revealed about the prophecy. It was as interesting and full of suspense as the first one. The only thing that sucks is that it's not yet the end (apparently it's a trilogy)! The release date of the final book has not been confirmed yet (some says it's sometime August 2011...waaaah!) and the wait is just excruciating. Super bitin talaga!

I can't wait for the 3rd and last installment of this series. I'll definitely get my hands on it as soon as it comes out. Patience is a virtue indeed and by the looks of it, this one will be worth the wait...I just hope it comes out sooner!
