Day 12: Down South

I've lived in Las Pinas my whole life. My parents transferred here back in 1980 (I think) even before I was born. And 30 years after, we're still living at the same house which has gone through quite a number of renovations to date. What started as a 240-square meter lot has now grown to be 600 square meters - the latest renovation was my dad's last project.

Except for the traffic especially now that the Skyway is still under construction, I love living down south. Our village is just right behind SM Southmall and it's just about a 10-minute walk away from our house. It's also just a 10-minute drive away from Alabang where almost everything is - Alabang Town Center (my second home!), Festival Mall, Westgate, S&R, Asian Hospital... It's also a good starting point when going to Tagaytay, Laguna or Batangas for an out of town trip.

When I was still studying, I was just a bus ride (okay, an hour-long bus ride it is) away from La Salle. The bus station is just outside our village. When I was still working in Makati and had to commute home (yes, I do commute every now and then), there's a shuttle that drops me off just at the corner of our street. Pilar Village is very convenient!

On a good day (or either really early in the morning or late at night), it takes just about 30 minutes to get to Makati and about 40-45 minutes to get to work - how I wish everyday is like this! With traffic, well, that's another story that makes me wish that I don't live down south! But I've gotten used to it already. I just catch up on my sleep as soon as I get in the car - thanks to my driver. Or if I'm out really late and I'm too tired to go back to Las Pinas, there's always the condo in Eastwood. I just go back home the next day.

Given the chance to choose where I'd want to live, I'd still pick the South...this is where I grew up in and it will always be home. I'm just counting on the Skyway (which is currently being extended until Alabang) to make our lives easier :)
