foodie find: apple pocket

I used to be a regular at Starbucks back at my old workplace. Since it is just at the ground floor of our building, it's our default go-to place when we need a pick-me-up in the morning (caramel macchiato it is!), a quick "lunch" during those toxic days when we don't have time to go out and get a decent lunch meal, or even a little something to satisfy our sweet tooth. The baristas already know us and would prepare our drinks already without even ordering yet. We're also up to date with the latest promos and new items on the menu.

So it's a big change now that the nearest Starbucks is a couple of blocks away - too far to frequent on a daily basis. I've come to appreciate the rare moments that I get to have my fave cup of coffee - my daily dose of caramel macchiato has now become a once-a-week or even once-every-two-weeks thing...sadness :( I've heard that there are new items on the menu but it was only yesterday that I finally had the chance to try one of them.

I originally wanted to try the Red Velvet cake but it wasn't available so I had the Apple Pocket instead:

"A delicious combination of buttery shortbread crust filled with chopped spiced cinnamon sugar apples, chewy chopped cranberries and dark chocolate chips finished with sugar glaze and sprinkled with chopped cranberries"

I love anything with apples and cinnamon, and this was a sure winner! Why did I try this just now?! I had it heated and it was the perfect treat on a cold, rainy afternoon. I liked how the buttery crust complemented the not-so-sweet apple cinnamon filling. I wanted to get one to go but the piece I just had was the last one already.

Now I have another reason to go to Starbucks again...soon! I also still need to try the Red Velvet cake...I hope it's available next time :)
