Xbox and the little one

The little one came into my room earlier and said he wanted to play Monsters vs Aliens in Xbox. I had no idea what he was talking about (I haven't played the game yet) but I dutifully followed him to the family room. I honestly didn't know how to turn on the system (my brother or brother in law were the ones who usually sets it up) so I go...

Me: Call yaya. She knows how to turn this on (o diba, mas marunong pa si yaya sa kin!)
Gabby: It's ok Nang-nang, I know how...look... (he then presses some buttons and the xbox did start up!)
Me: How did you know that?
Gabby: Because I'm good! (sabi ko nga!)

He then expertly navigated through the menu and started the game. After choosing the level, he handed the controller to me...

Gabby: You play, Nang-nang...I don't like this level. I like the next one.
Me: But I don't know how to...
Gabby: It's easy. I'll teach you! (ok payn, ako na ang tinuruan!)

There was a short video clip before the actual game started. As soon as it was over...

Me: So now what?
Gabby: Just go forward and get all the powers (referring to the glowing thingies along the way). Then press A to jump and if there's a bar, you have to duck down then press X to boom the enemies (aba, alam nga nya!)

I tried to remember what he said but since it was my first time to try out the controller, I was still trying to familiarize myself and missed the part where I had to jump.

Me: Uh oh, I fell...
Gabby: Because you did not jump! I told you to press A, remember?
Me: Sorry, Gabby! I forgot... (sorry naman!)
Gabby: It's ok...try and try again Nang-nang.

I eventually got the hang out of it but there was this part that I can't get through. I 'died' several times and the little one was getting frustrated.

Gabby: Nang-nang, what are you doing? Look, I'll show you...

He then got the controller from me and easily got through the part where I got stuck. I watch his tiny fingers quickly press the correct buttons without even looking! I wasn't even able to follow what exactly he did. After killing the monsters in that particular area, he handed the controller to me again...

Gabby: There, I killed them already. The next part is easy...you just need to press the buttons that show up, ok? You listen and follow what I say. (Yes, boss!)

In fairness, I followed his instructions and I was able to complete the stage, much to his satisfaction. I'm still amazed that I was taught by a 3 year old! Sya na! I think I'll just stick with Mario on Wii next time - that I know very well. I can probably teach HIM a thing or two on that! ;)
