I took the 9am flight out of Jersey to head to the west coast - the main purpose of my trip which is to attend my best friend's wedding. With a short layover at Detroit, I finally arrived in LA by 3pm. Cristy, Shane and Reena picked me up at the airport and thanks to the LA rush hour traffic, we reached the Marriott at Sherman Oaks not until 5pm. It has been quite a tiring day of just traveling for me!
With less than 2 hours before the wedding rehearsal, they left me at the hotel to freshen up a bit while they attended to some last minute things. By 7pm we were all at the church already but what was supposed to be a smooth rehearsal almost turned into a disaster since the wedding coordinator was missing in action! Cristy was stressed out and all already...the coordinator wasn't answering her phone, time was being wasted and we had an 8pm dinner reservation to catch.
It took quite some effort to calm down the bride and after so many attempts, we were finally able to get in touch with the coordinator - she apparently got into an 'accident' and had to go to urgent care the entire afternoon and her phone wasn't with her the whole time. May it be true or just some lame excuse, we were all pissed off! She wasn't even apologetic about the whole thing and even had the nerve to ask if we still needed her to go the church! Uh, that's the purpose of the wedding rehearsal, right?
She finally arrived at the church close to 8pm already. We can't do much anymore that she's almost an hour late so we had to speed things up so as not to miss your dinner reservations (which we eventually had to extend for another hour).
After all the rehearsal drama, everything eventually ended well. We headed to Hokaido for our very late dinner and all the stress was forgotten as we enjoyed good food (seafood galore!) with the company of family and friends. The wedding is in 2 days and everyone are all excited about it. Cristy's family (except for her mom) flew all the way from Manila as well.
Tomorrow's gonna be a very busy day. For sure, there are a lot of last minute things to be taken cared off as we prepare for the big day. My maid of honor duty is on and I have to make sure that the bride is happy! :)
