kid at heart

My sister bought Gabby his first Lego set a couple of weeks ago. It somehow brought back memories when we were still kids. My dad bought my sister her first Lego set during a trip to Germany and that time, Lego was unheard of here in Manila (I was not born yet that time). It was about 2 years after when Lego was finally available in the local market. By the time I was born and big enough to play with Lego, the very same set my sister had was still 'alive'. I remember countless of hours playing with it, building houses and what not. Fastforward to a couple of years after, my brother also played with the same set (in fairness, mommy dearest was very good in keeping our toys in good shape!) and my dad bought him a couple of sets more. Lego was one of those classic toys that never goes out of style. It just gets better with all the improvements as years pass by. It's also very durable - imagine, it survived over 30 years!

So with the little one excited and all with his new toy, mommy, nang-nang and tito were like kids again as we played with him and built whatever we can with the ever so familiar blocks. Then my brother remembered that he was able to keep his old Lego sets (including the very first one from my dad) so up to the attic he went and true enough, it was still good as new! So imagine a 3-year old, a 22-year old, a 29-year old and a 36-year old all playing together. I must admit, it was really fun!

Too fun that my sister (yes, the 36-year old) bought her OWN Lego Creator set. It wasn't for Gabby but for her own playing pleasure. She had to explain to the little one that it was Mommy's toy. Hahaha. Lego sets are so expensive here so she got it from Amazon and had it shipped through Johnny Air (low EQ...she can't wait for another month for the box to arrive):
We all had fun playing with it and trying out the different styles of houses that can be built out of the set. We were hooked and that's not good coz it only means that we want more! Hahaha. And so my sis got another set. This time it's the Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle:

Being a Harry Potter fan, I want one too! Hahaha. So I got the Diagon Alley set for myself:

Now Nang-nang has her own toy as well :) The Harry Potter sets are pretty big so we had it shipped along with the other stuff in the box (shipping would be quite expensive if we course it through Johnny Air) and have to wait for about a month for it to arrive. I've been browsing for other sets since then and there are a lot more that I wanna get! Hahaha. Mostly the rest of the Harry Potter sets and some Christmas/Holiday sets that are just so cute!

A new hobby is born and mind you, it doesn't come cheap! Maybe if I get tired of if (which I doubt) I'll have the little one play with them as well. Hahaha. But it's nice to take a step back, enjoy the simple things and be a kid all over again :)
