Today is technically my 1st day of "freedom" and the weather seems to be on my side. Because of the storm yesterday, today was still pretty gloomy and rainy...and the best part is, it was a bit chilly - for the first time since summer officially started, I was able to sleep bundled up in my blankie WITHOUT the aircon on. It felt really nice to not wake up early and dread going to work on a Monday. As what Ochie gurl said, today was made for staying home and cuddling up with someone. But since my someone is far away, why not take advantage of the cool weather to go out and just bum around (the past days were just so hot that I didn't really feel like going out in the horrible summer heat!)?
And that's exactly what I did. My mom was meeting some of her friends at the condo, and with nothing planned for the day, I tagged along. We passed by High Street first on the way for my fix of Fullybooked where I got a copy of Rick Riordan's Throne of Fire - the 2nd book in the Kane Chronicles series. I haven't read The Red Pyramid yet and I plan to do so tonight when I get home.
I wasn't able to eat breakfast anymore since I woke up late already (the joys of being a bum!) so I also grabbed a Five Cheese Turnover from Starbucks. I love cheese and anything with cheese, so when I heard about this new item on their menu, I just had to try it. In fairness, it was pretty good! I like the hint of basil. But since it was literally stuffed with cheese, just one piece of this will leave you full for a couple of hours.
We got to the condo by noon and since I was still stuffed, I skipped lunch, watched some Ellen and Oprah, then took a nap again - the weather made me so lazy! It was already around 4pm when I woke up. I headed down to Nail Tropics to have my nails done. A mani, pedi and foot spa while catching up on my reading completed my just-relax-and-bum-around day.
Dinner was at Cyma and I pretty much just finished my book back at the condo while waiting for my mom. My first day of being unemployed went well. I plan to just stay in tomorrow and do nothing! Hahaha. I can totally have more of this in the next 2 weeks :)
