kiddie shows

I remember when I was a kid, my default TV show was Sesame Street. My mom didn't want us to watch the local version, Batibot, so I only had glimpses of Pong Pagong and Kiko Matsing on very rare occassions. Big Bird, Ernie, Bert, Oscar the Grouch, Grover and Cookie Monster were household names.

Fast forward to about 3 decades later, the little one also had his share of Elmo but he wasn't into it that much. Nowadays, there are just so many kiddie shows that I'm even confused on who's who. But mind you, Gabby knows everyone and he would usually end up teaching me who's on. Whenever I'm home, he usually camps out in my room and would take over the TV. Don't even think of changing the channel or convincing him to let you watch other shows coz he'll go all sad and say 'but what will I watch?' with matching pout and sad eyes. How can you resist that?

Since I've been home for a couple of days now, here are the default shows on my TV whenever the little one is around - which is like, all the time!

I now know Steve, Joe, Mr. Salt, Mrs. Pepper, Periwinkle, Magenta and of course, Blue! Blue's Clues is one of his favorites and he can watch this over and over and over again. I've come to know what the blue paw print means and that you need to write down the clues in the handy dandy notebook. Oh, and you need to sit on the thinking chair to think, think, think! It came to the point that I was so sick and tired of watching the same thing again and again that I asked my sis to go buy a new Blue's Clues DVD. In fairness, she did and the new one is what's been playing non-stop nowadays. Give me a few more days of Magenta coming over and I'll ask my sis to buy a new DVD again! Hahaha.

Then there's Bob the Builder. Gabby loves this show as well and would sing the jingle everytime it's on - Bob the Builder, yes we can! Can we fix it? Yes we can! See, even I know the words already! I now know who Scoop, Muck, Roley and Dizzy are. But he still likes Blue's Clues more than this. In a day, he'd just watch this once while Blue's Clues will go on repeat for about 10 times. Seriously.

He still has other DVDs and TV shows (we can only watch Disney Playhouse if the DVD is not on) but one that I really can't understand why he likes them are the Wiggles.

He started watching this again just yesterday but I'm sorry, mukha silang bading. The idea of 4 guys wearing tights, dancing and singing around just creeps me out. The other mascots in the show are just NOT cute at all. If I was still a kid, I'd probably be scared of them. And their songs just don't make sense...they have a song about a Hot Potato and Fruit Salad. Duh?! Good thing the little one agrees to go back to Blue's Clues when I tell him that Nang-nang wants to see Magenta instead. Hahaha.

And speaking of Magenta, Gabby just entered my room. So much for watching E! News for now. I'm in for another round of Blue's Clues!
